blackout

O.K. here's the story. At the primary activity yesterday, I was visiting with Debie. Mckenna, whispered, "Aren't you going to tell her what happened?" So, with her permission, I told Debie about our exciting Tuesday night. Debie mentioned it in her comment and when I checked my email before bed last night, I found this email...

What fainting incident? Are you ok?
Hope you are OK. Maybe you need to go to the Dr.
Love ya
Mom

I am fine!

Mckenna had a dentist appointment on Tuesday afternoon. It was just a cleaning. The hygienist had to work hard on her. She had a lot of plaque built up on her teeth. They have mentioned this before, so after the last appointment I bought her an electric toothbrush. For some reason, it hasn't worked. I guess it might be because you have to actually put it in your mouth and turn it on and apply it to your teeth! I sent her up to brush her teeth every night, but after visiting with her sister, I find that she hasn't been doing a very good job. I thought she was old enough to not have me hover over her anymore. I guess I was wrong. The dentist suggested that for awhile I supervise to make sure she is doing a good job.

Anyway, later that night I was brushing her teeth to have her feel what it is supposed to feel like. Her gums were very tender and irritated from the intense cleaning earlier. When she spit and saw the blood in the sink, she said, "I don't feel good."

"Do you need to sit down?" I asked.

She nodded and went completely limp. I helped lay her down on the bath mat and started yelling her name. Her eyes were wide open but I knew nobody was there. She stiffened up and didn't respond to my attempts to get her back. I remembered she needed blood to her head, so I grabbed her feet and held them up. It seemed like she was out for a long time, but I know it was probably less than a minute. When she came to, she blinked and looked at me and asked, "What happened?" Other than being scared from the whole thing, she was fine. She had a hard time going to sleep after that, so when dad got home he gave her a blessing and she went right to sleep.

I'm honestly getting better. My kids have done this before. Court and Cam have each had a couple of fainting episodes. The first time it happened, I had the phone in my hand, ready to call 911. Now, I know what it is and even though it is scary, I don't panic.

I ask all those in the blogging world to do me and my kids a favor. Please don't bleed around my kids!

I'm sorry Terri but your journaling made me laugh! I guess because you already said that everyone was fine. So your kids (plural) have fainted from blood before!? That is crazy! I'm glad her dad was able to come home in the nick of time...I'm so glad when daddy comes home.

I can just picture your poor mother all worried and concerned (not that I know her) but I can only imagine her concern. I think it's interesting how some people are fainters and others aren't. Elizabeth has fainted once and I have several times. Is it an inherited thing?
McKenna, I'm so glad that you were feeling better and wanted to talk about it.

Fainting is something you don't hear much about anymore since they gave up corsettes. Now Blood on the other hand, is a good reason.

Mattie had her ears pierced last week, and I had to turn my head.

If you daughters lived with me, we would never have our shots updated. We would all be on the floor.

Your so funny, but glad it all worked out.

That poor girl! I think with Eric in the family all my kids have seen so much blood that it doesn't even faze them. She is a good sport, it was cute to watch her face as you told us at the Temple.

Jan, your comment about the corsets was too funny! And I was very impressed with McKenna being totally fine with you telling us her fainting story. She's just so cute! Hopefully no more fainting episodes for you family.

That would of been scary. Elizabeth faints when she sees needles going into someone. When we were at the hospital visiting my mom she was getting bloog into her and Elizabeth went into the bathroom and we heard this lound Thump!
She came out with a face as white as a ghost. She also almost fainted when WE got our ears pierced.

That would be scary for a parent to watch.

Dehydration will knock me out, I've passed out a few times in the past 5 years - it's no fun (especially if I hit a couple of things on the way down).

What? Fainting is real?
