What to blog...

I received an email from my mom a couple of days ago, chastising me on my lack of blogs lately. It's not that nothing is going on, our lives are quite chaotic right now. Courtney recently started winter colorquard, Maddy and Kenna are taking piano, and other school activities keep us running. My mom also asked about the house. How much should I write about the house? I like my house, it is beautiful, but I am a little embarrassed by it, and it is just a house. I am not the kind of person to say, "Hey, look at me. Look at how wonderful my house, life, kids, dumb dog, car........" you get the picture. I want to keep people updated on the progress without seeming pretentious. Not for the readers benefit, but because I want to be true to me. It wouldn't matter to me if I lived in a 300 square foot house, or a 15,000 square foot house (it's not even close), as long as the five people on the right of this screen are with me it is my HOME. And, besides, how exciting is it to write about wiring, duct work and septic tanks?

Let it Snow!

The windows and doors are in, and the roof... the wonderful roof is on! (insert hallelujah chorus here)

Now, winter can come.

If Your Basement Gets Filled With Water

If you have weeks of snow, slush, and melt without a roof, you will have a basement full of water. You will go and try to remove it.

The framer will want to pose for pictures.

You will have to wade through water.

You will vacuum up the water. If it is too hard, you will go and rent a sump pump.

If the sump pump doesn't work, you will go back to using the shop-vac.

If smoke and flames start shooting out the motor, you will quickly turn it off.

And, you will go and buy a new one.

If you are working with your son, he will keep track of the water and let you know you dumped 150 gallons of water and you will sleep very well.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Thirty-nine years ago today, my little sister was born. She is two years younger than me and my only sibling. To be honest, when we were growing up, we did not get along. I didn't like her telling me what to do, and she didn't like me telling her what to do. I used to tell her, when I was especially angry with her, "If I could, I would divorce you!"

*

*

I'm not sure how it happened, she has turned into an amazing woman whom I am very proud to call my sister. She is one of the few people who really knows me inside and out and still loves me. For that, I am grateful.

*

*

Some tidbits about my sister:

*

:: She is an awesome wife and mother to four great kids.

*

:: She is a gadget fiend. There is not a kitchen gadget she does not have.

*

:: Her presents are gorgeously wrapped. When we put her presents under our tree, our presents looked very plain. Courtney took the tag to school to show her friends her handwriting. She does beautiful calligraphy.

*

:: She is very compassionate. She is frequently giving homemade bread to a neighbor, or taking a meal into a sick family, without being asked. I am impressed with her willingness to serve and lessen the burdens of others.

Happy Birthday, Ging! I hope you have a great day. And again, I apologize for slamming your finger in the door. I'm glad the fingernail grew back:) Love Ya!
