School starts in just a few days. I am going to miss the unscheduled laid back days. The days of sleeping in are almost over, it is time to get back into a routine for the school year.
I remember when I had to write a paper about what I did during the summer when school started. So here is a report of our summer of 2009.
:: We watched this silly girl walk the 4th of July parade with the summer band and color guard as an assistant.::
::Kenna (aka MNM) celebrated her ninth birthday complete with a yellow M&M ice cream cake::
::We played hide and seek in the dark. It is very painful when you sit on a patch of tack weed.::
::We got wet!::
::Our old college roommates came from Logan for a visit with their five kids. We had a blast! ::
::My wonderful hubby had a birthday. Courtney made a delicious lemonade pie for the occasion.::
::We shed tears!::
::I nearly gave a sweet man in our ward a heart attack when I heard a noise outside my bedroom window one Saturday morning. I thought it was Tom, and jumped out of bed to wish him good morning in my "special underwear". I was quite shocked to see that it wasn't my husband. Gratefully, I don't think he saw me. I jumped in the shower after I told Tom that someone was in our yard. As I showered, I heard the rumbling of a large piece of machinery outside. Tom came, with tears in his eyes, to tell me that their were over 100 people outside. They were pulling weeds, moving rock and leveling donated top soil. We were deeply touched. Thank you doesn't seem to cut it.::
::Last week, we literally threw our son out on the curb at the MTC. We took a couple of pictures near the temple before he was to report. I wasn't warned about how hard it would be to say good-bye for two years. I felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest and thrown on the MTC sidewalk. The hole was there as we drove away. We will miss him.::

Oh man...every year that my boys get older it gets harder and harder for me not to get emotional over missionaries! I hope he is a good son and sends lots of love through emails and letters so he can help fill that gapping hole! My heart aches for you and every other mother that knows they are deoing the absolute best thing in the world...but it still hurts!
Looks like a fun summer. I'm cracking up about you and your morning greetings.... I'll never visit unannounced! ha ha.
Cameron will be an amazing missionary!!! You'll have to keep us posted about all the blessings that come with a fulltime missionary. He will be missed. Dallin keeps talking about Bro. Moon and I correct him that it's Bishop. He then keeps reminding me Bro. Moon, aka Cameron, is who he's referring to. He was a great primary teacher.
what a big summer you moons had! i especially love the pie for your husband's birthday! lol...soooo ingenious! i'll have to borrow that idea for seth this next year since he always makes fun of me for being older, but he's turning 30 so it'll be PERFECT!!! =) you guys are the best and i appreciate your awesome go-get-em attitudes, & your examples of selflessness. thanks for being you. =)
Tear....... I love all the summer fun pics and Courtney's bottom and the pie! It only makes the end even sadder!
Now I have tears. Tears of laughter after reading about your morning hello in your "special underwear". Tears of amazement at the love of the wonderful people in your ward. What an amazing and selfless thing they did for your family. And last, tears for your mother heart. Cameron...sorry...Elder Moon...will be a great missionary! I'm so happy for him, but as a mother, I can imagine how difficult that was to say goodbye for 2 whole years. Just thinking about doing this in 11 years has me all teary eyed.
Loves to you.
Sister Moon,
Your beautiful son just shared your blog addy with us...As a mom, I cried reading your words, but as a new member I am so grateful for your and his sacrifices.
My daughter and I were baptized 30 days ago with his help, and he is also working with my husband towards his baptismal day. :) We love having him and his companion in our home. He has quickly become like another son in our family. We enjoy his teaching as well as his company for dinners. We feel truly Blessed he will be joining our family for Thanksgiving this year.
You've raised a wonderful young man! It sweetly shows what an amazing person you must be. Thank you from the depths of my heart for sharing him with us!
